Ministry of C2026-10-19 02:20:27China issues tech-commerce policy calling for deeper AI integration in manufacturing and consumer goodsChina’s Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments have issued an opinion on accelerating technology-driven commerce, according to a report cited by ChainCatcher from Jinshi. The document calls for upgrading the supply of goods and advancing a dedicated “AI + manufacturing” initiative. It says artificial intelligence should be integrated more deeply across product research and development, design, manufacturing, and marketing. The policy also calls for expanding the supply of smart products, including smartphones, computers, home devices, wearables, and robots. It encourages the research, development, and application of intelligent products based on secure and reliable open-source operating systems. Beyond AI-related manufacturing, the opinion also addresses broader industrial upgrading. It proposes speeding up the transformation of historically established industries, developing classic and premium branded products, building a lineup of Chinese consumer name-brand goods, and identifying high-end consumer products rooted in independent innovation. The document also calls for stronger development of technology-driven agriculture, quality and efficiency improvements for premium specialty farm products, and support for time-honored brands using modern production technologies for product innovation.90
Ant Group2026-10-11 09:05:34Ant Group tests personal AI agent for Lingguang, with smart device access and home printer controlAnt Group is running a limited internal test of a personal agent feature for its AI assistant Lingguang, according to BlockBeats. The updated version adds a "My Life" page centered on long-term memory and proactive task execution, shifting the product beyond basic chat and lightweight app generation. The feature set described in the report lets users assign ongoing tasks such as tracking product prices, following travel plans, and managing vaccination reminders. Rather than waiting for prompts each time, Lingguang can send notifications when changes occur. The test version also supports connections to external apps and smart home devices. In one shared demonstration, a user identified as Saibo Chanxin said Lingguang connected to 13 devices in his home through an open-source Mijia interface. He then had the assistant create a household device manual and successfully call a Xiaomi printer to print it. The report adds that the new build can connect to services including DingTalk through Skill and MCP, a protocol used to link external tools. The personal agent capability had reportedly been in preparation for about half a year, went through several rounds of iteration, and is planned for full release in October this year.230
